(A-02) Practice

Architecture and interiors since 2012

(Who we are)

An architecture and interiors practice for houses, public buildings and workplaces — shaped by site, light and material.

We start every project on site, at different hours, in different weather. Then we draw until the building feels inevitable — and stay until the keys are handed over.

(A-03) Section A–A

From line to light — scroll to build

Fjordline House, Bergen

01

Step 01 — Structure

Every building starts as a section.

We cut through the house to see how it stands: walls, slabs and a roof pitched for northern snow.

02

Step 02 — Light

Then we follow the sun.

Winter noon light reaches 5.4 m into the plan, so even the deepest room gets daylight.

03

Step 03 — Rooms

Rooms gather around the light.

Living in the double height, sleeping to the quiet side, a study tucked under the stair.

04

Step 04 — Life

And then it’s lived in.

The drawing becomes a home. Fjordline House, completed 2024 — 182 m², five rooms.

(A-06) Stages

Four stages, one team

Sheet 06 / 12

From site visit to handover.

One team from the first walk on site to the last snag. Each stage starts where the last one ends — nothing is handed over blind.

Typical project

12 — 24 months

01

2 — 4 weeks

Brief & feasibility

We walk the site, test what the plot allows and agree a brief, budget and programme.

02

4 — 8 weeks

Concept design

Sketches, models and a first plan: three options, one clear direction.

03

3 — 6 months

Planning & technical

Permits, engineering and the full drawing set builders price from.

04

6 — 18 months

On site & handover

Weekly site visits, every detail checked, keys handed over with a building manual.

(A-07) Principles

Four rules we don’t break

Sheet 07 / 12

Good buildings are quiet about how hard they work.

P-01

Site first

We read the plot before we draw: sun path, wind, views, neighbours and what should stay.

P-02

Honest materials

Timber, brick, lime and stone that age well and can be repaired rather than replaced.

P-03

Low carbon by default

Every project gets a whole-life carbon budget at concept stage, and we design to it.

P-04

Built to outlast us

Loose-fit plans that can change use over a hundred years without coming down.

(A-08) Drawings

From line to building

Sheet 08 / 12

Every building starts as a line.

We still draw every plan by hand first. Scroll to a plate and watch the drawing turn into the building it became.

How small a project do you take on?

Cabins and extensions from around 40 m² are some of our favourite briefs. Size matters less than a good site and a client who wants to build well.
